Local singer-songwriter Mark Savino, who records as Mark’s Quiet Cargo, has released his debut album, available now on most streaming platforms.
The eight-song album is titled Red Skies, and the artist says he’s influenced by acts as disparate as Bread and Radiohead, and one track, called ‘The Fire,” even features a string arrangement for violin and cello. The title track, “Red Skies,” he says, “was inspired by a photograph and story shared by fellow songwriter Brent Kirby at his 10×3 open mic.” Kirby is everywhere! Savino was previously a member of the band Turning Point but Red Skies is his first solo effort.
“The hardest thing for me is finishing things before self-doubt steals my energy,” says Savino. “From songwriter meetings to solo open mics to finally booking studio time — I never felt ready, but I went anyway. The days in the studio ended up being pure joy, and I’m so thankful to the local music community that helped me get here.”
The album was recorded by Tuck Mindrum at Plastic Dino in Bay Village, Ohio, and mastered by Sun Room Audio.
