The next productive in its 25th season at Tremont’s convergence-continuum is Los Angeles-based writer Steve Yockey’s Sleeping Giant, described as a “haunting and provocative dark comedy.” In it, smalltown denizens are faced with the awakening of a giant creature, due to a fireworks-enhanced wedding proposal which causes it to be roused from a lake in which it’s slept for thousands of years, with the town’s citizens reacting in very different ways.
The play was originally performed in 2019 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and later developed by Theater Emory in Atlanta, GA for their “4:48 Project” and the Center Theatre Group’s L.A. Writers’ Workshop Festival. The finished play debuted in Salt Lake City in 2022. It will be performed from Friday October 2 though Sat October 24 @ 7:30pm, with Sunday performances @ 3pm.
