An avant-garde short film with the serious theme of grief and loss, written, directed and scored by a Cleveland Institute of Art student, will be presented at an unusual venue: the Mayfield Road Drive-In Theatre in rural Geauga County.
I’ll Be There looks at grief and acceptance through the eyes of a masked character experiencing loss. “The film follows these themes through three characters as they experience loss in their own ways,” says the press release.
“As a chronically ill artist, I feel a degree of grief for the healthy body that I will never have,” the filmmaker Josh Willits, a CIA senior in Sculpture + Expanded Media and Printmaking, says. “It is through that lens that I created this film.” Willits created masks, props and costumes for the film, using such media as 3D printing, sewing and papier-mâché, and filmed it over four days in locations such as Hiram, Ohio and East Harbor State Park in Lakeside-Marblehead.
It screens for one night only; admission is free.
