For the 7th year, Fresh Fest filled Rid-All Farm in the Kinsman neighborhood with a day of good, clean, healthy fun for all ages. There was a free farmers’ market, there were daring dirt bikers doing tricks, there was a cooking demonstration, and chess and checker boards, and a roller skating rink, and a bus filled with art making supplies, and a vendor market where I got an amazing chocolate walnut brownie. Was there line dancing? Come on, what do you think?
And oh yes, there was music. In past year, the lineup of 6 or 7 local rappers, DJs and vocalists led up to a headline performance by a legacy hip hop artist. This year, the locals preceded TWO headliners: New Orleans’ Rebirth Brass Band and veteran rapper Rakim of Eric B and Rakim fame.
