Cornucopia

09.29-10.06.21

We are reaping what we have sown for years.
That’s the reason we have such a great community. Cleveland based Belt Publishing has been publishing books about life in our region for 8 years, and now they’re hosting a pop-up at their office in Slavic Village where you can get a free book with every purchase. Baldwin Wallace has a 100% signing rate for their students at their annual New York Senior Showcase for the past 12 years; since Nighttown is dark, their Cleveland showcase will take place at Beaumont School this week.LoveMuffinPalooza has been raising money for cancer support center the Gathering Place since 2012; this year’s one-day event takes place at BOP STOP this weekend. The 14th annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival is (finally) taking place at CMNH this weekend, screening over a dozen shorts on environmental justice and activism. Melt Bar and Grilled has been serving gourmet grilled cheese for 15 years, so they deserve to throw themselves a party at Grog Shop with some killer local bands.

You put in the work, you earn the rewards.

CPT Expands Ticket Accessibility

 COMMENTARY
Shining a Light on Domestic Violence

“The first time I saw a news story about the disappearance of Gabby Petito, I knew she was dead,” says our columnist C. Ellen Connally. “The story was just too implausible. She goes on a cross-country vacation with her boyfriend — whose name I chose not to use — and he returns in her van, without her. Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder could see that there was something wrong.”Petito’s case highlights how ubiquitous domestic violence is in our society, says Connally. “The missing white woman syndrome is a plague in our media. Subtle racism plagues law enforcement agencies. And people end up dead. The story of Gabby Petito is a textbook example of the merger of all three ills.” Read More
