Fri 10/1-Sun 10/3
Horror seems to be the go-to genre for every budding filmmaker, so the debut Cleveland Horror Fest undoubtedly had an enormous array of films to choose from to program three days at the Atlas Cinemas at Shaker Square.
They’re promising shorts and feature films “and everything in between” by global independent filmmakers. They include films such as Rebirth (pictured), described as “conceived as a tribute film to George A. Romero’s iconic masterpiece Night of the Living Dead. Tragically, the film was thought to be lost until miraculously the hard drives were restored.” They deal with all the typical horror film tropes: serial killers, saboteur hackers, disappearances, mysterious infections …oh wait, that isn’t real life?
The event features not only film screenings, but also workshops in filmmaking, screenwriting and acting, opening night and closing night/awards parties, a bar crawl and other events. There’s even a horror screenplay competition. You can buy a badge for all the events or single tickets for individual events. (There’s a virtual option too.)
