Tri-C JazzFest has settled into its current format at Playhouse Square, with a weekend of ticketed shows and two days of outdoor music and other festivities outside at the intersection of East 14th Street and Euclid Avenue. Hey, don’t fix it if it isn’t broke, and it definitely isn’t. Despite light drizzle on Friday evening, crowds kept growing for a day of music that culminated with local artist Dre Walton and Aaron Smith and RDAA, along with Savion Glover featuring PROjECt.9 , which integrates Glover’s tap-dancing into music, and Puerto Ricans, timbales player Tito Puente Jr and flautist Nestor Torres, interspersed with showcases by the talents teens from the Tri-C Jazziest Summer Academy in the Next Ten Stage. Giant puppets joined the crowd to bring the evening to a high-energy conclusion.
