Babies are cute and right now, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is drenched in cuteness with a couple of recent arrivals.
On July 3, red panda mother Poppy and father Willie celebrated a new arrival that pretty much broke the cuteness meter: a cub that the mom named Leela by choosing from among three water dishes with different names on them has named her cub! The healthy youngster will be more visible to visitors in coming weeks.

Then on September 13, arriving in time to celebrate World Rhino Day on September 22, an Eastern black rhino calf was born at the zoo to mom Kibibbi. It’s even more cause for celebration because the species is critically endangered with fewer than 583 adults left in the wild. The calf is not on greeting visitors yet, but you can follow its progress on the zoo’s Facebook page.
