Local Travel Writer Talks About His African Safari @ Artists Archives of the Western Reserve

Wed 8/14 @ 6-7:30PM

Alex Shaland is a Lyndhust-based travel photographer, who, with his wife Irene, has written numerous books about his travels around the world. He has a particular passion for the protection and conservation of the world’s animals and using his travels, his work and the lecture programs he presents to raise awareness.

His new book Suburbanites on Safari follows the Shalands and a pair of friends as they travel through South Africa and Zimbabwe on their first-ever safari observing the native wildlife — mammals, birds, reptiles — close up.

Shaland will be at the Artists Archives of the Western Reserve, presenting his slide program “African Safari 101: Supporting Wildlife Conservation through Eco Tourism,” based on the book.

It’s free and open to all. Register here.
