The Camino de Santiago is a famous route for religious pilgrimages (although some walk it for the challenge and other personal regions) traversing hundreds of miles through France, Spain and Portugal. Contemporary British composer Joby Talbott’s 2005 semi-staged choral work Path of Miracles draws on medieval texts, Catholic liturgy and musical influences from around the world, sung in seven languages, to mediate on endurance, reflection and transformation.
The Cleveland Chamber Choir will present three performances of the piece in a weekend, on Friday at the First Lutheran Church in Lorain; on Saturday at Trinity Cathedral in downtown Cleveland; and on Sunday at Christ Presbyterian Church in Canton (530 Tuscarawas). Assistant conductor Peter Wright will give a talk 30 minutes prior to each concert.
“Inspired by themes of pilgrimage and search for connection, a portion of all pay what you wish ticket funds will be directed to the Interfaith Group Against Hate,” they share. “IGAH is a group of faith-based congregations from multiple religious traditions who have joined together to combat rising hate and white supremacy through research, education, building of relationships across barriers, mutual aid and action.”
