Each year, Kent’s Standing Rock Cultural Arts and downtown businesses invite people of all ages down to the heart of town for an Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social, now in its 16th year.
Ice cream will be only 25 cents a scoop — and free for seniors. There’ll be kids’ activities, a 50/50 raffle and music by old-time string band/Appalachian folk group the Kent Shindig All-Stars, a nine-member band who play nstruments such as fiddle, mandolin, lap dulcimer, guitar banjo, flute and whistle.
It all takes place on the Hometown Bank Plaza at the corner of Main and Water streets in downtown Kent, the perfect starting point for checking out Kent’s many shops, eateries and bars.
