It’s been a year now since three area musicians — acoustic fingerstyle guitarist Doug Wood, bassist Darren Frate and cellist Tara Hanish — put out the album Cellocentric as the Doug Wood Trio, and then decided to BECOME Cellocentric.
With their flexible instrumental music that draws on classical, new age, jazz, pop and folk, the group rapidly picked up gigs in a wide variety of area venues, festivals and concert series. Wood’s compositions fuel the music, which makes gentle listening for those looking for something more nuanced that a full-tilt rock band.
The trio will be playing two nights at Lorain County Community College’s Stocker Arts Center’s intimate Cirigliano Studio Theatre. Ticket are $15, $10 for LCCC students and those 18 and under.
