Aligned

03.17-03.24.21

It’s so nice when everything lines up.

Here’s hoping everyone’s doing their best to get vaxed, so we can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day carefully, if that’s not an oxymoron. Cleveland vocalist Carol Leslie, born in Edinburgh, Scotland, is livestreaming Irish & American tunes from BOP STOP. Other streams this week include a discussion of the pandemic’s impact on live theater, a virtual Kid’s Comic Con and a seminar on Chicago’s Hull House Settlement hosted by Oberlin.

78th Street has limited admission to their usually lines-out-the-door Third Friday, and Cleveland-based Belt Publishing hosts a pop-up at its Slavic Village office. The Rock Hall remembers Mary Wilson, a native-American environmental activist discusses climate change, and Cleveland Council on World Affairs joins with the Great Lakes Energy Institute at CWRU for a session on why climate change is so hard to talk about.

We’re gonna hook you up.

Cleveland lawyer Terry Gilbert is a child of the ’60s, a product of the civil rights era and the anti-Vietnam war movement. He’s never lost the fire for righting wrongs. He was fighting to lose Chief Wahoo in the ’70s before it was fashionable, and wherever someone’s rights are threatened in northeast Ohio, there’s a good chance you’ll find Terry standing up for them. He’s just released a book, Trying Times, about his experiences.  Read More
