The monthly Bainbridge Swing Dance starts its fall season at the Family Life Center in Chagrin Falls this week, giving people of all ages the chance to meet some new people, learn some new dance steps and hear some great live music performed by veteran musicians.
Doors opens at 6:30; at 7 there’s a dance lesson to teach some basic steps so even if you’re a newbie you know what you’re doing when you hit the floor. At 8pm, the live band takes the stage and the dancing starts.
Each month, another top regional band that plays danceable music, usually in the roots rock/Americana vein, takes the bandstand. This month, one of their regulars, Pittsburgh’s horn-heavy seven-piece Dr. Zoot, is back. The seasoned band has been playing their high-energy danceable blend of jazz, pop, R&B, swing, jump blues, funk, Latin and early rock since 1998, becoming a favorite of dancers across the region.
They play until 10:30 and then if you like, linger on the dance floor a little long for Electro Swing, a half hour of song requests and line dancing.
Come alone, come with a partner or bring the family. Everyone changes partners all night, so you don’t have to worry. Kids are welcome too!
It’s $20 at the door, $10 for kids, or $50 per family. Get more info HERE.
