New York-Based String Quartet Performs in Cleveland Heights

Tue 10/13 @ 7:30PM

Escher String Quartet was formed in New York City in 2005, a relatively short history as string quartets go. Its member were students at one of the city’s esteemed music schools, the Manhattan School of Music and named itself after 20thcentury Dutch printmaker M.C. Escher. Since then, its reputation has spread, and it’s toured in Europe, Australia and China as well as the U.S.

Given its short history, three of its four members are founding members: violinist Adam Barnett-Hart, violist Pierre Lapointe, and cellist Brook Speltz. Violinist Bryan Lee is the newcomer.

The group will be performing at the Cultural Arts Center at Disciples Church in Cleveland Heights for the Cleveland Chamber Music society. Their program will include Franz Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet in G major, Op. 76, No. 1, written in 1796-97; Eric Wolfgang Korngold’s 1945 String Quartet No. 3 in D major, Op. 34; and Johannes Brahms’ 1873 String Quartet in A minor, Op.51, No. 2.
