Everyone in the Akron arts and culture scene knows Don Drumm Studios and Gallery, founded more than 50 years ago by noted Akron-based sculptor Don Drumm, whose metal sculptures are in collections and on public view across the country and even abroad.

His daughter Leandra Drumm followed in her father’s footsteps, attending the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina where her parents taught and studying art at the University of Akron and Kent State University. She also started her own business called Leandra Drumm Designs Inc., where she created etched glassware and pewter designs that told stories, sold across North America. In 1993 Leandra’s husband, Tim Benninghoff, joined the family businesses: They now own and operate Leandra Drumm Designs Inc. and Don Drumm Studios and Gallery.

In addition, she joined the University Park Business Association, and became its event planner creating events such as the “Light-UP” Lantern Festival, a community arts celebration. Leandra Drumm and gallery manager Toni Billick will be guests of the Akron Roundtable to talk about the history of the Drumm legacy and where they are headed in finding up-and-coming talent and sharing quality art with the Greater Akron community. The event takes place at the Doubletree by Hilton in Akron Fairlawn. Go HERE for tickets.
