Like many things, Great Lakes Brewing Co’s annual Burning River Festival at the former Coast Guard Station at Wendy Park disappeared with the pandemic after a final two-day event in 2019 celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Cuyahoga River’s most infamous conflagration, which helped trigger the Clean Water Act.
Recently Great Lakes Brewing has been offering a smaller event, the one-day Great Lakes Beer & Music Fest, taking place alongside its Ohio City brewpub on Market Avenue. It’s got 16 breweries from all across Ohio lined up to do tasting pours so you can compare them and discover a new favorite.
There’s also music. Henry LoCont, front man for the band LoConti, performs from 11:30am-1:30pm, followed by singer/songwriter Madison Cummins from 2-4pm, Ryan Sowers from 4:30-6:30, and as a grand finale, one of Cleveland’s most popular bands, soul-infused rockers Apostle Jones from 7:30-10:30pm. It’s interesting to note that Apostle Jones also played the last Burning River Fest in 2019 back when they were just starting and few people knew who they were. They’ve come a long way, baby!
Admission to the event is free. Tasting tickets are $4 each, six for $20 and 12 for $40. Go HERE for more information.
