Bike Cleveland Fundo is a Fun Way to Support Safe Streets Advocacy

Sat 8/22 @ 8AM

No organization in this area works harder than Bike Cleveland which has been working for 15 years to make our streets safer for ALL users, including cyclists and pedestrians. In addition to its advocacy and education programs, it also brings cyclists together for fun events.

Its big annual fundraiser, the Bike Cleveland Fundo, is a key part of all of that. It’s the group’s biggest annual fundraiser for its work, but it also gives cyclists the chance to explore the city and to meet and socialize with other riders. And the 12th annual Bike Cleveland Fundo takes places this Saturday, rolling out as usual from the Edgewater Park beach house.

Get your gear laid out Friday evening and get ready to be there early, especially if you take the 60-mile option. There are three Fundo courses to choose from, based on your personal skills, experience and stamina: 10, 30 and 60. All the trails, taking riders through Cleveland neighborhoods and adjoining suburbs, are clearly marked and there are rider support personnel available to help deal with any issues that might arise. The 10-mile riders are provided with a snack, while the 30- and 60-mile riders have fuel stops along the route. When riders return they can buy lunch from the food trucks lying in wait, or from the beach house concessions.

The 60-mile ride departs at 8am; the 30-mile ride follows at 8:30. The 10-mile ride has a later start time of 10am which will be helpful to those wrangling kids to go on the ride. (This ride is especially family-friendly.)
