Tri-C’s Performing Arts Series season starts this week with a performance by Syncopated Ladies Live!, taking place at the Mandel Theatre on its Eastern Eastern Campus.
The all-female tap ensemble was founded by choreographer Chloé Arnold whose specialty is modernizing and stretching the boundaries of tap dancing, something for which the group has acquired a national reputation, appeared on major TV shows, and worked with big-name artist such as Beyoncé. It’s taken an art form that was traditionally male and reinvented it to foreground women’s strength and spirit. Its touring show features storytelling in dance set to diverse musical genres including pop, hip hop and salsa.
