You’ve likely been hearing a lot about in recent years about one of many major threats to our environment: the overuse of plastic which breaks down into microbeads which enter our water system — and our bodies. Groups such as the Great Lakes Alliance hold regular beach cleanups to try to get rid of the stuff people dump, but it’s a never-ending task. And why some believe that the ubiquitous plastic water bottles can be recycled, the reality is that very few are.
The new Netflix documentary The Plastic Detox follows six couples to reveal the impact on plastics and chemicals on their homes and families and its effect on their struggles to conceive.
A group of local environmental groups have gotten together to present a screening of the film at Baldwin Wallace University’s Martin Hall, to be followed by a panel discussion featuring Beth Biggins-Ramer from the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District; Mark Warman of Ohio Sea Grant; Eddie Oldchansky of Trash Fish CLE; and Beth Vild on The Big Love Network.
