The Western Reserve Land Conservancy, which works to preserve, protect and upgrade lands in 29 northeast Ohio counties, is presenting a documentary film called A Bird in the Hand at the Capitol Theatre in Gordon Square.
The film depicts a married couple, master bird bander Tom Bartlett and his wife Paula, as they band the 100,000 birds in northwest Ohio of their 50-year work. They share what they have learned through their study of birds, and how that data fuels the work of scientists studying the lives and habits of birds and their conservation efforts. It looks at the relationships they’ve built over the years and how it takes a team to do accomplish the significant work they’re part of.
After the screening, there’ll be a panel discussion featuring Tom Barlett, and the film’s directors, Christy Frank and Alex Goetz. Nature lovers, conservationists and especially birders, should want to catch this event. Get tickets here.
