Some people like their lighting displays flashy, colorful and loud. Others are more enthralled by subtler, quieter displays of lighting magic.
If you’re one of the later, forego the big bangs and come to Munroe Falls Metro Park’s Tallmadge Meadows Area for “Firefly Fireworks.” You won’t see the gossamer fairy princesses that always appear in AI images of fireflies, although you’re free to dress like that (preferably if you’re five years old) to join park naturalists in the meadow to learn about the bioluminescent insects and what their flashes mean, take part in some nature-related activities, and then catch some fireflies (and let them go!) There will even be sparklers!
Bring a flashlight and bug jar. It’s the perfect event for younger kids and those who want a quieter 4th. It’s free; no reservations or tickets are needed. For more information, call 330-865-8065.
