Or participating in the Big Creek Watershed Clean-Up. Or being there for the beginning of the summer artisan season at Maker Town Market at Forest City Brewing.The Veganish ladies branch out from apples and bananas and post a hilarious taste test of some exotic fruits to expand our healthy diets. Shontel Brown, who assumed the job of congresswoman from OH-11 last November, has by any measure done a great job; she’s facing a pointless primary challenge. Anyone who wants to see OH-11 represented by someone who does the work and is fighting for them — without being the loudest or spouting the most utopian-sounding slogans — will vote for her in the May 3 primary. The primary for Cuyahoga County Executive, to replace the retiring Armond Budish, isn’t where the excitement is. Republican Lee Wiengart, briefly a county commissioner in the 90s, is unopposed. The Democratic race features 15-year University Circle Inc. head Chris Ronayne and young, inexperienced Tariq Shabazz. With the Democrat likely to win in November, this is an easy call. Read More

An army of student/ faculty musicians, dancers and readers will gather at Severance Hall for a program memorializing the May 4, 1970 Kent State shootings.
In one of the more bizarre allegations, Judge Daniel Gaul of the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court corresponded with a former defendant who had been found not guilty in his courtroom. The same defendant had been found guilty of similar charges in Federal District Court and sentenced to 12.5-years in jail and ordered to pay $2.6 million in restitution.The judge went so far as to provide the defendant with a copy of the transcript of the proceedings that occurred in his room. His largess cost the taxpayers $400 plus $72 for mailing.The amended complaint alleges Gaul’s behavior, once again, violated the Code of Judicial Conduct… Read More
