The Verne Collection is a little jewel of an art gallery/shop tucked away in Little Italy. Specializing in contemporary Japanese prints and paintings, it was established in 1953 when owner Michael Verne’s parents were living in Japan.
For those whose tastes are in tune with a Japanese sensibility, this intimate space is packed with wonders, ranging from noted Japanese artists to Western artists living and working in Japan and influenced by its culture of simplicity, visual elegance and influences from nature. The price range of its pieces is enormous too: whether you have a few hundred to spend or your budget is limitless, you can find something to take home with you.
