Cleveland early music chamber ensemble Les Délices is one of the area’s most creative little classical ensembles. They’ve produced multi-media concerts, commissioned new music, collaborated with poets and writers, explored different cultures and developed online series during the pandemic they’ve continued to grow that combine music and education.
For its season opening program, it’s delving into the most traditional of Baroque composers, J.S. Bach, but adding their own twist, of course. In Bach’s Musical Offering, they’ll play excerpts from his work off against those of his son C.P.E. Bach, contrasting the father’s intricate counterpoint with his son’s expressive, melodic music.
They’ll perform at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Akron on Thursday October 1; at Baldwin Wallace University’s Gamble Auditorium on Saturday October 3; and at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Gartner Auditorium on Sunday October 4. Arrive early, harpsichordist Mark Edwards will give a short talk a half hour prior to each performance.
