Virginia’s Steel Wheels isn’t a Rolling Stones tribute band but rather a bluegrass/country/folk- influenced Americana band from the rural Blue Ridge Mountains area.

Lead singer/guitarist/banjo player Trent Wagler, standup bass player Brian Dickel, fiddler Eric Brubaker and mandolin player Jay Lapp met in college in the mid ’00s and worked on projects together for a few years before dropping music for a few years to live normal lives. But they came back together with a bang, releasing 2010’s Red Wing, which gained them the attention of the Americana/alt-country community. Last year they released Wild As We Came Here, on which the band stretches out a little, expanding their reach without leaving behind their roots.

The Steel Wheels return to Peninsula’s G.A.R. Hall, where they’ve become a favorite, this weekend. Tickets are $22 in advance $27 day of show.
