Two new shows debut at the Sculpture Center in University Circle with a reception and artist talks Fri 3/18. Jim Leach’s Being Healthy and Ashley Lyon’s Weighing the Sunset are part of the Center’s Emerging Artist 2016 series.
Leach is an early-career artist who creates installations from readymades, evoking echoes of Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray and the Dada movement, as well as assemblage artists like Robert Rauschenberg. Lyon’s ceramic-based work features handmade sculptures of human figures and body parts, using molds to cast heavily pigmented clay bodies.
Lyon will talk at 6:15 in the Euclid Avenue Gallery; Leach will speak in the Main Gallery at 7. It’s free and open to the public. The shows are on view through Fri 5/20.
