Fri 9/18 @ 5-9PM
On 78th Street Studios’ Third Friday, there’s always art coming and going.
In the “coming” category, this month UNDERSTORY gallery on the Ramp level is opening a new show called Amalgamation. As is typical for the gallery it’s a small group show on a theme: in this case, “humanity and technology, tangled together in strange new growth.” Participating artists include onah Jacobs, Jamie Richey, Nicholas Romano and Douglas Becht.
Also opening this month is Morocco: A Travelogue at Gallery 202, another group show in which artists shared how they were influenced by travels Marrakech, Essaouira, and the Atlas Mountains. Artists include Leslye Discont Arian, Marjorie Falk, Rosalyn Gholston, Jennifer Joseph, Jill Milenski, Karen Miraldi and Natalie Rich.
As for the “going,” this month is the last chance to see several shows. Get a last look at Lauren Scacchi’s Into the Calm at Extraordinare, a show that reflects on stillness and taking a pause to reconnect with nature and one’s own being.
And I Am an Old Woman, featuring work by two of the area’s established artists, Liz Maugans and Rebecca, closed soon at HEDGE Gallery. And stop in Gallery 215 if you want to see its current show People, Places, Things.
As usual dozens of artist will have their studio doors open, eager to talk to visitors about their work. And NorthCoast Promotoions will have their vendors in the event spaces.
Third Friday is free and open to all, including well-behaved dogs.
