East 4th Street may be a solid stretch of restaurants but each serves distinctive cuisine. Saigon Restaurant & Bar is the place to go for Asian food. Start with one of its colorful pastel bubble teas or an Asian cocktail as you peruse the menu of Vietnamese specialties. The names may be strange (dishes are fully described on the menu) but they won’t be alien to anyone with a moderately large familiarity of different types of Chinese food, an influence on Vietnamese cooking. Noodle and rice dishes come with chicken, beef, pork or seafood, and like most Asian restaurants, lots of the dishes are vegetarian or can be made so. Saigon also indicates a range of gluten-free choices on its menu.
