Paper Moon Winery is a hopping place on the weekends because Vermilion residents have embraced the winery just off Route 60 and not far from downtown Vermilion.
Acres of vineyards stretch out alongside Route 2, and one of the first things visitors notice from the parking lot is the large outside firepit, usually burning bright on a summer’s night.
The winery serves many wines, including an exceptional dry Riesling, from local grapes and imported California varietals, with great panini sandwiches and salads. A large window in the tasting room reveals the wine-making operations, but if you’re timing is good, you’ll meet winemaker Adam Cawrse, who may play some music for you.
