Wade Oval Wednesdays welcome August with a free concert by Northeast Ohio Latin fusion orchestra Son Gitano, which infuses contemporary pop music with infectious Latin rhythms. You can count on dancing in front of the stage! And speaking of dancing, the opener this week will be Akron’s Black Beanz dance crew, which features immigrant and refugee young men from countries such as Uganda, Congo and Tanzania, incorporating their native styles into an enticing stew and sharing how diversity enriches the culture of our region.
Appropriately, the evening’s theme is International Night and its partner is the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. Come down early and visit a couple of them; they’re right next door to Wade Oval.
There’ll also be the usual mix of food trucks and snack and refreshment stands, providing Asian, Latin and American food, booths from community organizations such as the Cleveland Public Library and Cuyahoga Community College, and “roaming entertainment” by Pickup Stix Stilt Walking and Hula Hoops with Gerri.
It’s free and very family-friendly. Bring your blanket or chairs and hang out.
