Sat 8/1 @ 7PM
The Black August 2026: Sound of Freedom evening at the Beachland Ballroom should be a blockbuster show, with an incredible lineup of Northeast Ohio talent scheduled.
The headliner is Mourning [A] BLKStar, a jazz/soul/hip-hop/spoken word ensemble founded by writer/musician RA Washington a little more than a decade ago. In that time, its momentum has grown, as it’s started to get national and even international recognition for its distinctive and powerful blend of genres that honors Black culture in different ways. The group has performed at festivals in Europe, as well as headlined major events in NE Ohio.
Also on the bill are Muamin Collective, who’ve been making music for about three decades, stirring in live music elements with their hip-hop sound, and Nature Nvoke, a fierce band that draws on hardcore, metal and electronic music, among other genres. And finally, there’s the Robeson Singers, self-described as “a revolutionary community gospel choir singing for liberation,” named after the great actor/musician Paul Roberson who was effectively exiled from the U.S. for his political beliefs.
Expect to be challenged, provoked and inspired. Get tickets HERE.
