Once again, it’s time to enjoy the offerings of the Waterloo Arts District during Walk All Over Waterloo, when the galleries are open and there’s music outside on the Tower Stage where you can take a chair, hang out and enjoy the summer weather.
The highlight of this month’s Walk is Brinsley Tyrrell: Clay, Ash, Steel, Glass, and Fire, opening at the William Busta Projects Gallery from 5:30-8:30pm.
In the mid 20th century, Cleveland was a center for glass enamel art, and while the Ferro Corporation had donated a large-scale industrial enamel kiln to Kent State University, it was largely unused until former KSU professor, sculpture Brinsley Tyrrell spent six years using it to create glass ceramic panels for the West 117th Rapid station in Cleveland. The former William Busta Gallery on Payne presented his work in three shows in 2008, 2010 and 2011. The new show will feature six previously exhibited pieces and thee that have not been seen. Additional works have been created in the last ten years. The show will be on view through the September 4.
After you’ve explored the show, head across the street to the stage to catch music by the Quentin Rubin Band and Jack & the Optimists, from 6:30-8:30pm, sponsored by Cleveland Rocks: Past Present Future.
