The New Soft Shoe Plays Classic Country Rock at Lake View Cemetery

Sun 8/23 @ 4-6PM

Cleveland band The New Soft Shoe features some of the area’s veteran musicians on an offbeat mission: to honor the music of country rock pioneer Gram Parsons (1946-1973) whose music and its influence is often overshadowed by the dramatic circumstances of his early death. For more than fifteen years, the band has been playing music drawn from his solo work as well as the bands he played with: The Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers and the International Submarine Band. While his career (and his life) was truncated by his heavy drug use, it continues to impact artists to this day.

The New Soft Shoe brings its own take to the Parsons catalogue, adding songs Parsons was known to have played at least once. The band includes Brent Kirby and Andy Leach on guitar, Tom Prebish on bass, Rachel Brown on keyboards and Jon Niefeld on drums.

Often found in local clubs, especially on the west side of Cleveland, the band moves east to a rather unusual venue: Daffodil Hill at Lake View Cemetery where it will play a free outdoor concert.
