The Cleveland Museum of Art’s wildly popular monthly mix parties on the first Friday of each month have a different theme each month, and so, with this being Hispanic Heritage Month, the party tips its hat to Hispanic culture with Noche de Ritmos.
Things kick off at 6pm with DJ LOLO playing a mix of Latin house with regional Latin genres such as salsa, timba,bachata, merengue, cumbia, and reggaeton. At 6:45pm, Viva Dance Studio with give guests a salsa dance lesson so they can look good on the dance floor while the music plays. At 7pm, local ensemble Son Gitano takes the stage with their rhythm-driven, horn-heavy Latin fusion music. And DJ LOLO winds things up with another set at 8:30pm
As usual there’ll be themed food and drink available for purchase. And they suggest “Guests are encouraged to view art on display by Latin and Hispanic artists including Picasso, Dalí, Miró, Gonzales-Torres, Amaral, and Sánchez in the museum’s permanent collection galleries. Visitors are also encouraged to visit the newly redesigned ArtLens gallery where they can interact with Mexican Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s piece Binocular Tension.”
