Philly’s Bark Culture Brings Free Improv Jazz to the BOP STOP

Thu 8/20 @ 8PM

If you like your music adventurous, keep an eye out for concerts presented by New Ghosts, usually in collaboration with and at the BOP STOP. (Another regular source of these experimental concerts in Cleveland Uncommon Sound Project aka CUSP).

This week, New Ghosts is bringing a Philadelphia-based trio called Bark Culture to the BOP STOP. It’s led by Brazilian vibraphonist Victor Vieira-Branco, supported by drummer Joey Sullivan and bassist John Moran. They’ve been playing together for more than four years, exploring free improvisation within a group context. They released Warm Wisdom in 2024, followed by THE GIANT IS AWKWARD in early 2026, which added pianist Sam Yulsman to the mix.

This event will also be livestreamed on BOP STOP’s YouTube channel. The stream is free but donations are welcome and go to the band.
