Branch Manager of the South Euclid-Lyndhurst branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library Steve Haynie has won Ohio Library Council’s 2026 Service Excellence Award, Ohio Library Council’s 2026 Service Excellence Award, which honors individuals who consistently go above and beyond in serving their libraries and communities.
Inn a statement, OLC said, “Through exceptional customer service and a deep commitment to community engagement, Hayne has built lasting partnerships that connect people with the resources, services, and opportunities they need to thrive.” Among those partnerships is community building with organizations such as the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and the Cleveland Clinic, which he has partnered with to develop innovative Memory Café programming that creates welcoming spaces where individuals living with memory loss and their caregivers can find connection and support. He has also created original programming for his branch customers, from entrepreneurships programs that connect young people with local business leaders to partnership that place books in neighborhood barbershops.
CCPL Chief Public Service Officer Pam Jankowski said, “Steve’s work reflects compassion, dignity and a deep commitment to the role libraries play as anchors of community life. Through meaningful partnerships with organizations and innovative programs, Steve has helped create a library environment where everyone feels welcome, valued, and seen. His service is heartfelt, impactful and truly deserving of this honor.”
He will be formally recognize during OLC’s convention and expo at the Kalahari Convention Center in Sandusky on October 21, 2026.
