Wed 10/7 @ 6PM

The nonprofit Cleveland Rock: Past Present Future, whose mission is to provide support in various ways for Northeast Ohio musicians to grow their careers, has hosted a long-running series of free monthly workshops at the Cleveland Rocks Shop on Waterloo Road.

Recently they’ve moved them around to other sites, such as Visible Voice Books in Ohio City. On Wednesday October7 there, they’ll present “Orchestration in the Scene: Working With a Variety of Instruments and Musicians,” curated by Jessica Jonczyk of the band Rustic Skies. Panelists Kristopher Morron, Brandon Hoff, Alex McPherson and Kasey Moore will share basic information about how to incorporate unique instrumentation into different genres and settings, including how to find and work with musicians; figuring out how different instruments sound together and write arrangements; and how to navigate musician pay. They’ll explore how real instruments and synthetic MIDI, both in the studio live, and how to decide which you need for what you want to achieve.

There’ll also be a 2X4 songwriter showcase following the panel, with four musicians playing two songs apieces.

This event is free and open to all. RSVP HERE.
