Summer is coming on quickly, despite a few days recently dipping into the upper 30s. That will be history in a week or two — just in time for Northeast Ohio’s little old-fashioned resort town in Ashtabula County, Geneva-on-the-Lake to celebrate the kickoff of its summer 2026 season as well as Mother’s Day with its annual parade. The parade starts at 1pm on the Strip but they suggest you come early to grab a spot to set up your chair.
And while the town’s businesses aren’t fully open yet, many are so there are places to eat and grab some of that junk food you don’t feel as guilty eating on vacation — hot dogs, pizza, soft serve, donuts and lots of fried stuff! There are places such as the Old Firehouse Winery and Ruff Life on the Lake which also serve healthy food and have vegetarian-friendly menus —both are open now, and Ruff Life on the Lake also has a dog-friendly patio and sells pet gift items!
