All throughout the month of May, the Cleveland Botanical Garden will be celebrating a birthday: that of its two Radiated Tortoises who lives in the Madagascar Glasshouse Biome, as they turn 50 this month, with a “Shell-ebration.”

All month long, there will be special activities and programming and chances to get up close and personal with the tortoises. There’ll be scavenger hunts with tortoise sticker prizes, themed crafts, a meet-the-tortoises feature every day from 1-2pm in the biome, and photo ops with the tortoises on Fridays from 1-2pm, also in the biome.

The activities culminate with the Tortoise Birthday Party on Saturday May 30 from 11am-1pm. In addition to the crafts and scavenger hunt, there’ll be tortoise games and a dance party with DJ Kris Koch in Clark Hall. At noon, in Clark Hall, visitors can join in singing Happy Birthday and eat cupcakes. And there’ll be photo ops from 1-2pm. You can also buy a special tortoise T-shirt in the museum shop.
