Monday April 13 is the big day! That’s when the 2026 class of Rock Hall inductees will be announced on American Idol, with contestants performing songs by prior inductees. You’re likely to disapprove of several of the choices, so cue up your disputes. We know we’re going to hear that old standby, “that’s not rock and roll,” applied to any act that doesn’t prominently feature four or five white guys playing guitar.
To get your complaints ready, review the list of nominees again. They include the Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley Mariah Carey, Phil Collins, Melissa Etheridge, Lauryn Hill, Billy Idol, Inxs, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, New Edition, Oasis, Pink, Sade, Shakira, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan.
