Cleveland Shops Launches First Gift Certificate Sale With Locally Owned Businesses

Wed 10/21

Back in the spring, we shared news of a new initiative to support local brick-and-mortar retailers called Cleveland Shops, organized by Gordon Geiger of Geigers, based on the model of Cleveland Independents, a network of locally owned restaurants. Created in early April, its participants include a range of Northeast Ohio-based independent retailers.

On Wednesday October 21, Cleveland Shops will be launching it first gift certificate sale. Subscribers to its e-newsletter have two-day early access and the chance to shop from the entire inventory of all member stores (there will be a limited number per merchant). Participating merchants include Alson Jewelers, Cara’s Boutique, Geiger’s, Mar-Lou Shoes, The Wine Spot, Marshall Carpet One, Knuth’s, Paisley Monkey, Kilgore Trout, Cleveland Lighting, Block Brothers, W Gallery and more; they’ll be offering certificates at a 30% discount.

“Plans for this launch have been over a year in the making,” says Gordon Geiger, president of Cleveland Shops and owner of Geiger’s.  “We believe that the time is right. We’ll help our members kick off the holiday season by giving the public insight into the many outstanding locally owned, independent stores located within minutes of their homes.”

In addition, Cleveland Shops will soon debut a Cleveland Shops Gift Card redeemable at any of the 40 founding member locations. Registration for the e-newsletter list is available on Cleveland Shops Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages as well as via e-newsletters sent through any of the member merchants.
