Rock Hall Hosts Screening of Local Rock & Roll Home Movies

Sat 10/19 @ 2PM

For the last couple of years, the Rock Hall Archives has put out a call for home film/video footage of Cleveland bands and music events in Cleveland over the years. It’s quite a hunt, given that back in the day — before cell phones — the barriers to shooting video were even higher than the barriers to shoot still photos: equipment was pricey, lights were poor and venues (and bands) not always cooperative.

Still, they gathered enough footage to host a Home Movie Day at the Rock Hall’s Foster Theater last year, and it was such a hit they’re doing it again. Among the bands who’ll appear in the compilation film are Akron’s Devo and Hammer Damage and Cleveland punk rockers the Pagans. Some of the film donors will be there to talk about when, where and how they shot their footage.

Keep in mind that the Rock Hall Archives is always collecting historical material on local bands and the northeast Ohio music scene to add to its NEOsound collection that specifically focuses on this area. If you have anything, or know someone who does, get in touch with them here.
