The second Mass Hysteria Comedy Fest will take place October4-6 at Forest City Brewery, featuring local standup comedians, improv troupes and workshops. The event was created by women (specifically, Deena Hyer Mendlowitz and Sam Dee), so, even though everyone’s included, it’s far more women-inclusive than your average heavily male comedy event.
To raise a little money for the event, they’re presenting HERE the (Improvised) Musical, featuring Chicago improvisers Tara DeFrancisco and Rance Rizzutto. The two-person improvised musical has been performed in Chicago and 40 other cities and won rave reviews. Tara and Rance take a suggestion from the audience for the theme of the show around which they build characters, storylines and musical numbers. A roster of Cleveland improvisers will open the evening, including Mendlowitz and Dee, Dionne D. Atchison, Kimberly Pride, Carolyn Chan, Mike Frye, James Angelo Catullo, Scott Shepard and Joseph Lewis.
It takes place at Mahall’s in Lakewood on the Main Stage. Tickets are $10.
