Geauga Parks West Woods Hosts a Belated Earth Day Extravaganza for the Whole Family

Sat 4/27 @ 11AM-3PM

Earth Day may technically have been five days earlier, but taking care of our environment is something we should be doing all the time. So the Geauga Park District can justify holding its Earth Day Extravaganza at its West Woods Nature Center a little late.

The interactive event features a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, among them amphibian/reptile displays; wildlife presentations on subjects such as red bats, the American chestnut tree, organic lawn care and restoring the Chagrin River watershed; bird banding; a wild edible cooking demonstration; a pinecone bird feeder craft for kids; and a garlic mustard challenge with prizes — we presume it’s a sneaky way to get folks to help them pull up this invasive plant!

There’ll also be plant and native meadows mix starter kit giveaways, local artwork from recycled materials on view and food sale, and food available for purchase from by the Wrap It Up Food Truck.

It’s free and no registration is required; just stop in!
