Russia’s Vladimir Putin is a complicated person and leader. Because of term limits, he’s alternately been prime minister or president of the country since 1999, and served in the KGB prior to the collapse of the Soviet Union, suggesting a carryover mentality. Some things have gone well in the country; others have not. And while the U.S. has found common ground with Putin on some foreign policy issues, on others, the two countries have been at odds. And on some, such as intervention in Syria in support of the government against ISIL, the sands are always shifting.
So it should be a fascinating journey down a rabbit hole when WCPN’s Tony Ganzer moderates a panel of experts to discuss Putin’s world view and U.S.-Russian relations at the Happy Dog as part of its Happy Dog Takes on the World series. It’s free and open to the public, and you can order hot dogs and beer to make the evening even more enjoyable.
