Fri 4/10-Fri 4/17

With the Rock Hall inductions coming back to Cleveland this year on its every-three-years rotation, everyone’s getting in on the celebration.

That includes the Music Box Supper Club. It’s devoting the entire week prior to the big night (April 18) to “Rock Week Decade by Decade.” Starting the ’50s on Fri 4/10, it will dedicate a series of evenings to each decade of rock music. Sat 4/11 features music from the ’60s, Sun 4/12 is all about the ’70s, Mon 4/13 honors the ’80s; Tue 4/14 looks back at the ’90s and Wed 4/15 covers the ’00s through the present.

On Thu 4/15, the evening will be a tribute to “Ohio’s Greatest Hits” including the James Gang, the Raspberries, Devo. The week wraps up on Fri 4/16 with an evening of music by Rock Hall inductees, with some local star power that includes Michael Stanley, Cobra Verde’s John Petkovich, Dave Smeltz of I-Tal and Alexis Antes, among others, along with house band the Chris Allen Band.

Each evening will feature multiple local performers, along with some guests, performing that era’s greatest hits.

Detroit soul singer Thornetta Davis will be on hand for Saturday’s ’60s tribute, undoubtedly to help pull off some of the era’s great R&B music. Martha Davis of the Motels will perform as part of the ’80s tribute on Monday and the Verve Pipe will help celebrate the ’90s on Tuesday.

We’re particularly intrigued by Tuesday’s ’90s tribute in which the Chardon Polka Band (pictured) will be playing polka versions of some of the cheesiest ’90s music — Vanilla Ice, anyone? — along with a set of their own material.
