As overrun as Lakewood is with little locally owned coffeehouses to sit and hang out in, you’d think there were no new ideas. But the Playgrounds Café on Lakewood’s west side is specifically geared at parents who have their kids in tow.
Mom and/or Dad can enjoy a coffee drink and snack, while the kids enjoy the well-equipped play area called “The Fort,” with books, dolls, trains and a play kitchen. It’s the perfect place for that stir-crazy stay-at-home parent to get out of the house and give the kids some new activities in the process. The menu includes plenty of milk, juice, hot chocolate, fruit pouches and packaged snacks for the kids, along with baked good for everyone.
