 FALL FORWARD

To keep from falling over, you must keep moving forward. Global music/jazz/spoken word ensemble Drumplay has performed all over the world, but this week they host a benefit for the homeless in our community. Collective Arts Network (CAN Journal) and its 80 artist members are holding a “Buy Art/Buy Ohio” fundraiser reminding us to give local art during the upcoming gifting season. Inlet Dance is throwing themselves a 25th anniversary Big Bash and you’re invited. Dozens of chefs and restaurants offer delicious discounts for almost 2 weeks during Cleveland Restaurant Week.

CoolCleveland travel writer Claudia Taller invites us to explore nearby trails as we walk from Fall into Winter. Or you could hike through the Arcade and learn its history. Canton Museum of Art’s Christkindlmarkt offers European-style holiday gifting. Carol Leslie brings her bright vocals to BOP STOP, along with a new 20-year-old bassist. Whatever you do this week, just keep moving.

 FALL INTO WINTER WALKS
IN NE OHIO

The colorful leaves are almost gone  from trees in Northeast Ohio and soon the skeletal branches will reveal the bones of the landscape. But the region is packed with areas to revel in the beauty of nature in all four seasons, and CoolCleveland writer Claudia Taller has walked some of them to share them with you.

Some are as close as the  Lakefront Nature Preserve right on Lake Erie at the end of MLK Drive. Others range from Hogsback Nature Preserve in Lake County to the east to Lorain Metroparks Sandy Ridge Reservation on the west, to Virginia Kendall Park in Kent and Brandywine Falls to the south. And she’s promising to check out more in the upcoming months to share with us as Fall turns into Winter.

 BOOK REVIEW:107 Days
by Kamala Harris

Former Vice President Kamala Harris takes 300 pages her in new memoir, 107 Days, to recap her reflections on the challenges of the 2024 presidential race. Sadly, the entire book can be summarized in one sentence on page 299: One hundred and seven days were not, in the end, long enough to accomplish the task of winning the presidency.

Biden’s frequent comment that Harris was the last person in the room when he made decisions was initially positive for her image as essentially a president in training. But as Biden fumbled and fell in the polls, especially after the disastrous debate, the public questioned his decisions and his poll numbers tanked. Biden’s flawed image rubbed off Harris.
