Wed 1/7 @ noon
Trumpet player/composer Garrett Folger is one of Cleveland’s cohort of riding young jazz musicians. He’s performed by the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra and Jazzworks and is performing at the BOP STOP this week with Rocky Eton’s Octo-Jazz. Third Law Collective, an ensemble of local jazz musicians who workshop their compositions, has performed his work. And he leads his own ensemble called the Horizon Trio trio which blends improvisation into his small-ensemble compositions.
He’s joined in the group by one of the area’s legacy musicians drummer Carmen Castaldi who has been performing for 50 years, and pianist Anthony Fuoco, another youngish musician, showing how Cleveland’s pool of world-class jazz players spans generations. The Horizon Trio released its debut album, titled Horizon, this past year.
The group will perform at Trinity Cathedral for its free noontime Brownbag concert series.
